According to Pearl Auto’s website, Pearl
Rear Vision is a solar-supplied backup camera for cars, which provides the
driver with an extensive vision of the car’s surroundings. With futuristic
image-processing of “high dynamic range scenes”, the smartphone view
application has clear rear-view which is perceptible under daylight and when
switch to dark mode would allow clear vision in a lesser light environment.
Pearl Rear Vision has an alert system that provides the driver with audio and
visual alertness when there are obstructions to the lane caused by incoming
traffic. The notifying alert could come in the form of a signal of ripple or
tone, which becomes firmer as obstacles are within the near vicinity. The
rearview camera is not only effortlessly fixed onto the car’s number plate, but
it also prevents thievery. For these reasons, while there were many similar
products in the market, Pearl Rear Vision was a unique product which stood out
as it had a premature death compared to its competitors while it offered many
unique functions.
One such function of the Pearl Rear Vision
is the capability of the drivers to use their smartphones to navigate the view
of the camera. In contrast, Pearl Rear Vision’s competitor, Garmin, has a
similar product Garmin BC 30 that provides a similar function such as providing
visual of incoming traffic to avoid accidents. However, the driver needs to buy
an additional portable navigator component to synchronize with the camera to
view the footage. Therefore, Pearl Rear Vision convenience for drivers as
smartphones can substitute as the navigator instead of purchasing one. However,
it is one of the factors that cause the product not making through sales in the
market. As Pearl Rear Vision is a product that targets drivers on decreasing
demand for cars with no built-in rearview safety car features.
Another function of Pearl Rear Vision would
be the alert system that becomes firmer when obstacles are in closer proximity.
This help to alert the driver to obstacles and minimize the risk of potential
accidents. In contrast, according to Garmin's website, Garmin BC 30 does not
have the package deal that comes with an alert system which is an important
function for a rearview camera. In addition, according to the user review done
on the product, Garmin BC 30 have low video quality consistently. However, when
compared to its competitors, Pearl Rear Vision was too expensive for driver’s
needs.
A special function that makes Pearl Rear
Vision unique compared to other competitors would be an easy installation.
Pearl Rear Vision's rearview camera can be set up easily without any drilling,
wires or professional installation, which is hassle-free for users. In
contrast, Garmin strongly advised users to get the experts in Garmin BC 30 to
installed due to the complex installation required. According to a community
forum for Garmin BC 30, many users had encounter problems with the installation
of the Garmin BC 30. As an important factor, users consider when choosing a
rearview camera would be the ease of installation. However, it is the following
factors that cause the Pearl Rear Vision to exit the market. Pearl Rear Vision
was difficult to activate, the video display was laggy and its unique selling
feature caused it more prone to glitchy connection, making it less useful
overall.
In my opinion, I will not recommend Pearl
Rear Vision if you require an excellent and affordable rear vision system.
Despite the unique functions offered by the product to enhance the rear-view
camera and convenience provided for the users such as easy setup, an alert
system and connection of the driver’s smartphone with the cameras. However, the
important factors to consider about the product are that Pearl Rear Vision
aimed at a decreased targeted market driver and the product too expensive for
driver need. In addition, Pearl Rear Vision wireless selling point cause many problematic
features. In conclusion, Pearl Rear Vision premature death was foreseen with a
lack of demand.
